Located in the Great Sandy Desert in East Pilbara, Telfer is a fly in out fly out operation from Perth which recognizes the importance of work-life balance. Who we are looking for
We are seeking a safety-conscious and diligent Electrical / Instrumentation Technician to join our Surface Maintenance department at Telfer and maintain assets to ensure safe, sustainable and reliable performance in line with best practice.
Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, this newly created opportunity will see you utilise your inspection and fault finding skills to conduct preventative and break down maintenance of surface fixed-plant equipment across crushing, milling, coarse ore handling areas in addition to contributing to recovery improvement projects.
Key deliverables include, but not limited to:
- Installing, calibrating, testing and repairing electrical instruments and control systems
- Adjusting, repairing and replacing worn or defective components and wiring
- Advising others on the proper use of instrumentation and control systems
- Research and implement new instruments and control methods to better improve plant reliability and process recoveries
- Actively monitor and review plant performance and address any deviances from target
- Collaborate both vertically and horizontally at all levels in the Organisation to ensure common alignment, teamwork and engagement of your team and its key stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with all Australian Standards, electrical requirements and Newcrest’s policies and procedures
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement
As a hands-on and results-driven Electrical / Instrumentation Technician, you will have the natural ability to multitask and problem-solve. Through your commitment to workplace health and safety, you will ensure that all electrical work complies to the safety and environmental statutory requirements and company policies and procedures. Previous experience in fixed-plant maintenance within a Gold Processing environment will be an advantage.
In addition to the above skills, you will also ideally have:
- Cert III in Instrumentation or higher
- WA Electrical Worker’s License
- Proven post-trade experience with exposure to large scale Mining, Oil & Gas or Manufacturing operations
- Full Class C Manual Driver’s Licence essential
- Previous experience using SAP will be highly regarded
Please note: This is a permanent dayshift role at our Telfer mine site, FIFO from Perth on 8 Days On / 6 Days Off roster.
