About the role
We are looking for an Electrical Maintainer to perform preventative and breakdown maintenance tasks on critical and supporting assets in the Plant & Automation Team.
Working as a Plant Electrical Maintainer you will be required to inspect and maintain a variety of assets that support the greater Rolling Stock Maintenance Division.
The successful candidate will be a self-starting, motivated individual who is looking to showcase their technical electrical skillset accompanied by a mechanical aptitude, whilst striving for continuous improvement within Health & Safety, Cost, Production, and Maintenance improvement opportunities.
This is a residential role, living in the coastal region of Karratha/ Dampier, offering comprehensive relocation assistance, subsidised housing and other residential lifestyle allowances and benefits.
Working an attractive 6 Days on, 6 Days off roster reporting to the Plant Maintenance Supervisor, you will be:
- Performing assigned preventative and when required, reactive electrical and mechanical maintenance to ensure reliability of Plant Assets within Rolling Stock Maintenance, including the following –
- Machine Shop assets –
- Portal lathes, Underfloor Wheel Mills, Axle lathe & Wheel borer
- Automated wheelset assembly systems
- Gantry Cranes, Automated Guided Vehicles, bulk wheel storage assets
- Fixed plant assets –
- Associated equipment and tooling for Locomotive and Wagons teams
- Electrical maintenance and circuit installation, install works, testing and commissioning.
- End of Train Monitor Servicing and Maintenance
- Compressors
- Cranes
What you’ll bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- WA Electrical Licence
- Experience with PLC platforms and complex NC control systems (Siemens is preference)
- High level of electrical diagnostic/ trouble shooting skill
- Awareness of functional safety practices
- A sound understanding of Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and automated machine operation.
- Sound computer skills (SAP / MS Office suite)
- Proven ability to work in a collaborative environment with other disciplines, including testing and commissioning, and related documentation.
- A manual C Class driver’s licence.
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Experience in operating and maintaining automated equipment, robotics.
- Experience in PLC and Citect SCADA programming/coding, testing and on-site commissioning
- Instrumentation Certification
- HR Class Drivers Licence
- High risk licences (Elevated Work Platform, Forklift, rigging and/or dogging ticket)
- Working at Heights, Confined Space National Competencies
- Exposure to a maintenance management system, such as SAP

Where you’ll be working
We operate 200 locomotives on more than 1,700 kilometres of track in the Pilbara, transporting ore from 16 mines to four port terminals. The average return distance of these trains is about 800 kilometres with the average journey cycle, including loading and dumping, taking approximately 40 hours.
