About the Role
Based at our ‘Area C’ mine site you’ll be working on 7 days on 7 nights / 7 off (2/1) roster. Our Area C mine is located approximately 120kms North West of Newman, West Australia. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court, beach volleyball court and recreation room including a pool table, darts, table tennis, TV and DVD player. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic team and will provide the successful applicant with exposure to a range of Dewatering assets across Area C and South Flank.
Within the BHP WAIO Mobile Maintenance department, the Dewatering team is responsible for executing Planned maintenance and Break downs on the Dewatering fleet for both sites.
The Dewatering maintenance Supervisor is responsible for executing Planned maintenance and Break downs on the Dewatering fleet and supervising the technicians and maintenance personnel.
As a S26 Statutory Supervisor, you are required to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act and Mines Safety Inspection Regulations.
Reporting to the Superintendent Mobile Maintenance, your duties will include:
- Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
- Lead the improvement of maintenance processes
- Manage planned work and unplanned breakdowns to ensure equipment is back in a timely manner and ATSW is adhered to.
- Ensure Water is always available for the OHP plants and our mining teams.
- Supervision of specialist contractors to ensure technical and quality standards are achieved safely.
- Single point of accountability at work areas ensuring hazard/risk identification, reviewing and signing Task Based Risk Assessments (JHA) and verification that identified controls are in place and working.
- Completion of supporting and reporting maintenance documentation and 1SAP administration.
- Report incidents and accidents and collate detailed incident, accident and injury statistics.
About You

You will have significant experience with the operation and maintenance of heavy mining equipment. A strength of yours will be your ability to communicate efficiently, ensuring the development of staff through your influencing and relationship management skills. You will be a proactive, credible and influential member of the leadership team whilst building strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
Our successful candidate will need to be suitably qualified in order to manage all aspects of the departments’ deliverables and supervisor core routines.
Experience and skills required include:
- HV Electrician trade certificate qualification is Mandatory
- Supervisor or Step up experience in a Dewatering maintenance environment
- Previous dewatering experience and water systems
- Ability to communicate within a team environment
- SAP Experience
- Sound judgement including balancing competing priorities
- Positive and motivated people leader with a strong focus on culture and team diversity
- Ability to be trained to identify and prevent risks
