ABOUT GEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a permanent position on a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns. This opportunity offers a genuine pathway to department manager within 12-24 months for the right candidate!

As the Electrical & NPI Superintendent you will manage and maintain Non-Process Infrastructure and Electrical assets across the GEMCO operations. 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Operation and maintenance of the GEMCO power stations, fuel terminal, water treatment and distribution system and sewerage treatment facility
• Maintenance of electrical equipment at GEMCO (execution of planned, breakdown and shutdown maintenance)
• Supervising, monitoring, and evaluating personnel to ensure that all work is on schedule, to required quality and specifications
• Provide daily support, guidance, and leadership to improve the team performance
• Ensure electrical work undertaken complies with NT electrical regulations

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Strong understanding of SAP’s maintenance planning and scheduling functionality
• Demonstrated knowledge in understanding isolated power network operation
  • Electrical protection systems
  • High voltage switching
  • Electrical regulations
• Commitment to safe outcomes under time pressure

Qualifications for this position are:

• Electrical Trade/Engineer qualifications.
