About the Role

We are now inviting applications for the role of Electrical Protection Technician. In this position you will provide key support in writing and checking of High Voltage switching programs and Electrical Statutory testing of protection devices and ancillary equipment.

In this role you will:

  • Promote and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day
  • Ensure all safe work systems, procedures and standards are adhered to through frequent inspection of the workplace
  • Provide support to the Electrical teams and mentoring where needed
  • HV and LV switchboard commissioning and testing
  • Generator and Transformer testing and commissioning
  • Protection Replay programming
  • Preparation of commissioning/testing documentation & protection test plans
  • Detailed technical reports on completion of works

Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 7/7 roster pattern roster arrangement, with residential, FIFO or DIDO options available.

About You

  • Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
  • Electrical Trade certificate
  • South Australian Electrical License
  • Previous experience with protection testing desirable, but not essential
  • Previous experience with HV Switching desirable, but not essential
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings
  • A proactive team player who is also self-motivated and able to work effectively unsupervised
  • Ability to communicate across multiple levels and disciplines
  • Solid time management skills and ability to prioritise
