Electrical Engineer
Work Location: Christmas Creek - Fortescue’s Christmas Creek mine is located on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people.
Roster: 8D/6R - FIFO ex Perth
Fortescue is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to work within our Engineering & Reliability department. This position will suit an Electrical Engineer experienced within a fixed plant ore processing environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Anticipate & proactively resolve potential problems to ensure a zero-harm environment through design/ formulation of technical solutions.
- Develop and Review maintenance strategies of various electrical asset types to identify activities that optimize asset reliability.
- Respond to Electrical breakdowns and provide technical assistance to the site electricians.
- Commissioning of drives, instrumentation, and miscellaneous field devices.
- Liaise with relevant departments to provide technical solutions for operational support and projects.
- Root Cause Analysis and Defect Elimination.
- Identification and scoping of improvement projects.
Qualification and Experience:
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience preferably in Fixed Plant Ore Processing.
- Proven experience with leading root cause analysis investigations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and continual improvement focus.
- Site experience in iron ore processing equipment such as crushers, vibrating screens, conveyors, balanced machines etc is preferable.
- Discipline specific familiarity with VSD’s, HV and LV power, control, and electrical infrastructure.
- Experience in managing electrical equipment within a Hazardous Area is not a direct requirement of the role but will be looked upon favourably.
