About the Role
The requirements of this role include first and foremost is focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing & coaching your team.
As the Supervisor for Electrical \ Instrument Department, you will provide supervision and leadership to a team of Electrical and Instrumentation Technicians and be responsible for the safe production of nickel matte within the Kalgoorlie Nickel Smelter, WA.
Your team will maintain both HV, LV and instrumentation assets associated with the production of Nickel matte and the ancillary plants to service these (Oxygen plant, Acid Plant , onsite power generation ). This permanent opportunity will be offered on an attractive 5 days on / 2 days off (Mon-Fri) days off roster.
In this role you will: • Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations. • An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development. • Carry out responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner ensuring compliance with the Nickel West Safety System. • Demonstrate in-depth understanding of Material Risks and ensure controls are in place, including the verification of all Safe Systems of Work. • Ensure a Safe System of Work is in place for each activity and all direct reports are appropriately aware of HSEC systems and processes. • Ensure compliance with the requirements of the Work Health and Safety Act. • Liaise with Production departments to ensure plans are executed appropriately. • Provide input into production strategies, budgets, and plans as well as the improvement of work management processes. • Cultivate positive relationships through effective communication and consultation. • Monitor compliance against HSEC policies, procedures and systems through quality Field Leadership. • Positively influence and shape the culture to ensure a safe, productive, quality, sustainable, disciplined and controlled approach to work.
About You

Ideally as our successful candidate, you will possess the following; • Trade/relevant qualification within an equivalent industry and/or organisational experience • Experience in a fixed plant processing production facility essential • A strong safety background with experience in site health and safety management systems • Strong leadership skills & experience managing workgroups • Strong technical experience within operations and maintenance in a processing plant. • Strong communication, negotiation, influencing and relationship management skills • Self-reliant contributor with distinctive proficiency in executing and supervising maintenance activities.
