Work Location: Christmas Creek

  • Fortescue’s Christmas Creek mine is located on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people.

Role overview: 

Electrical Technical Officer (ETO) is an exciting, challenging and rewarding role, responsible for reliability and improvement of all electrical, instrumentation and control equipment in the fixed plant, stockyards and train load out facilities. Reporting directly to the electrical superintendent the ETO is an integral role for plant optimisation, autonomy and continuous improvement that will assist Fortescue in achieving its commitments of carbon net "0" by 2030.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Reliability of all electrical, Instrumentation and communications equipment.
  • Configuration, commissioning, calibration & device programming.
  • Performance monitoring for maintenance-related good practices and standards.
  • Advanced problem diagnosis, giving appropriate technical support and guidance to the electrical team
  • Overseeing Service, repair and recondition instrumentation equipment.
  • Overseeing commissioning, decommissioning and disposal.
  • Inventory controlling to ensure minimized delays.
  • Identifying problem areas and assessing remedial requirements for short/long-term solutions.
  • Justifying the need for changes or new products/equipment.
  • Initiating the procurement of new products.
  • Planning the execution, installing and initiating of new products/equipment as well as associated planned maintenance.
  • Performing upgrades and enhancements of software and hardware.
  • Project initiation and management 

Education and Experience: (max 6 bullet points)

  • WA A Grade Electrical License
  • Dual trade instrumentation
  • At least 7 years previous experience in a large mining operation fixed plant
  • Fixed Plant Electrical / Maintenance Technical (3 years) – desirable
  • High Voltage Ticket (completed refresher training within 2 years)
  • Strong leadership skills with previous leadership training - desirable
  • VSD fault tracing and diagnosis (ABB preferred) 
  • C Class Driver's license
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and SAP
