Job Tasks and Responsibilities

We are seeking experienced Electrical Technicians to join the Ashton Team. Applicants must have a commitment to working safely, be a self starter, pro-active, results orientated and focused on maintaining the high standards in place at the mine. Reporting to the shift Undermanager, some of the responsibilities for the Electrical Technician will include;

  • Supervise the installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of electrical plant at the mine
  • Conduct effective maintenance and fault-finding work on electrical systems
  • Monitor electrical equipment to ensure it remains fit for purpose and safe condition

Skills and Experience

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Minimum 2 years underground coal mining experience
  • Commitment to safety
  • Sound analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Positive attitude towards continual improvement
  • Knowledge of the Coal Mining Health and Safety legislation requirements
  • Experience with Underground Mining Equipment including conveyor systems, Joy development equipment, CT/DBT longwall equipment, explosive protected diesel plant (SMV, PJB, Jug-A-0)

Your skills and experience will be complimented by the following qualifications

  • Electrical trade qualification and certificate of proficiency (mandatory)
  • Qualifications in Maintenance of Electrical Equipment for Hazardous Areas (highly desirable)
