We currently have a vacancy for an Electrical Technician - Hoisting (Fixed Plant), reporting to the Mine Maintenance team.

The Challenge Ahead

As an Electrical Technician within our Mine Maintenance team, you'll play a critical role in maintaining the reliability, performance and availability of Olympic Dam’s hoisting systems, which are essential to the safe and efficient operation of our underground mine.

Working on a 7/7 day and night roster, you'll be part of a highly skilled maintenance team responsible for delivering both planned and breakdown maintenance within a complex underground mining environment. This role offers the opportunity to apply your electrical trade expertise to specialised hoisting equipment while contributing to operational excellence, equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.

You'll work closely with operations and maintenance teams, helping resolve equipment issues, optimise maintenance strategies and support a strong safety culture that underpins everything we do. Whether you have direct hoist maintenance experience or transferable fixed plant electrical experience, this is an opportunity to further develop your technical capability within one of Australia's most unique mining operations.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

You are a safety-focused Electrical Technician who takes pride in delivering quality maintenance outcomes and working collaboratively to improve equipment performance and reliability.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Australian recognised Electrical Trade qualifications
  • South Australian A-Class Electrical Workers Licence, or the ability to obtain one
  • Experience working in a maintenance environment with strong troubleshooting and fault-finding capability
  • Exposure to hoisting systems, fixed plant equipment or similar critical infrastructure, highly regarded
  • Experience with PLC ladder logic and industrial control systems, advantageous
  • A proactive approach to safety, including the confidence to speak up and contribute to a safe workplace
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions or escalate issues when required
  • The flexibility to support both electrical and mechanical maintenance activities where needed
  • Experience working in underground mining or heavy industry environments, preferred
  • Working at Heights and Integrated Tool Carrier (IT) qualifications, advantageous
  • Familiarity with maintenance management systems, including SAP-based platforms
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a high-performing team

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Work safely and consistently apply BHP standards, procedures and risk management practices
  • Perform planned and unplanned maintenance activities, inspections and checks across hoisting systems
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical faults impacting equipment performance and availability
  • Support the ongoing reliability and stability of fixed plant assets through quality maintenance practices
  • Review, update and maintain maintenance schedules, work history and asset information
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of maintenance and operating procedures
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to communicate equipment status and maintenance priorities
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards across all work areas
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement to enhance asset performance and operational efficiency

Work Location

This position is based at Olympic Dam in regional South Australia and operates on a 7/7 day/night roster.

Flexible travel arrangements are available, including:
