Our Telfer operation in Australia is now recruiting for the position of Electrical Technician- Instrumentation.

Located in the Great Sandy Desert in East Pilbara, Telfer is a fly in out fly out operation from Perth which recognizes the importance of work-life balance.  Our comfortable, well-furnished rooms include Foxtel, and our site offers quality food with healthy options, medical care, sports and recreation activities. Families are welcomed several times a year to open days to support our community feel at Telfer.

Who we are looking for

We are seeking a safety-conscious and diligent Electrical / Instrumentation Technician to join our Surface Maintenance department at Telfer and maintain assets to ensure safe, sustainable and reliable performance in line with best practice.

Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, you will be a part of high performing team responsible for the operation and maintenance of all surface fixed-plant equipment including crushing, coarse ore handling, milling, flotation and copper concentrate and reagents areas.

Key deliverables include, but not limited to:

  • Conducting maintenance activities, inspection testing and calibration of fixed plant electrical equipment and instrumentation in accordance with Company procedures and operating instructions.
  • The minimisation of downtime through accurate fault finding, and repairs.
  • Installing and commissioning modifications and design changes to control, instrument, and electrical equipment in accordance with standards.
  • Utilising SAP to obtain parts and complete documentation/reports as required.
  • The isolation of plant and equipment for maintenance purposes.
  • Participation in team projects and sharing continuous improvement ideas that may enhance maintenance, safety, process, and cost reduction.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and workmanship.  
  • Collaborate both vertically and horizontally at all levels in the Organisation to ensure common alignment, teamwork and engagement of your team and its key stakeholders
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement

As a hands-on and results-driven Electrical / Instrumentation Technician, you will have the natural ability to multitask and problem-solve. Through your commitment to workplace health and safety, you will ensure that all electrical work complies to the safety and environmental statutory requirements and company policies and procedures. Previous experience in fixed-plant maintenance within a Gold Processing environment will be an advantage.

In addition to the above skills, you will also ideally have:

  • Cert IV in Instrumentation or higher
  • WA Electrical Worker’s License
  • Proven post-trade experience with exposure to large scale Mining, Oil & Gas or Manufacturing operations
  • Full Class C Manual Driver’s Licence essential
  • Previous experience using SAP will be highly regarded

Please note: This is a shift role at our Telfer mine site, FIFO from Perth on 8 Days On / 6 Days Off. 7 Nights On / 7 Days Off roster.
