Our Surface Maintenance team based onsite at Telfer are seeking a safety focused and reliable Electrical Technician to provide quality and timely electrical services, whilst acting in line with Newcrest values and safety standards.

In the Great Sandy Desert in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia, our Telfer gold mine is our fly-in-fly-out operation, comprising both open pits and an underground mine. While at site Telfer offers a diverse range of recreational activities including a gym, swimming pool, driving range, movie room and refurbished communal eatery.
Who we’re looking for
We are seeking a safety-conscious and diligent Electrical Technician to join our Surface Maintenance (fixed plant) department at Telfer, to maintain assets and ensure safe, sustainable, and reliable performance in line with best practice.
Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, this newly created opportunity will see you utilise your fault finding and inspection skills to conduct preventative and break down maintenance of surface fixed-plant equipment across crushing, coarse ore handling, milling, floatation and leaching areas in addition to instrumentation work.
Key deliverables include, but not limited to:
- Test and calibrate electrical equipment and instruments
- Conduct quality preventative maintenance tasks on fixed plant equipment to ensure optimum plant performance
- Actively monitor and review performance and address any deviances from target
- Collaborate both vertically and horizontally at all levels in the organisation to ensure common alignment, teamwork and engagement of your team and its key stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with all Australian Standards, electrical requirements and Newcrest’s policies and procedures
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement
As a hands-on and results-driven qualified Electrician, you will have the natural ability to multitask and problem-solve. Through your commitment to workplace health and safety, you will ensure that all electrical work complies to the safety and environmental statutory requirements and company policies and procedures. Previous experience in fixed-plant maintenance within a Gold Processing environment will be an advantage.
In addition to the above skills, you will also ideally have:
- WA Electrical Worker’s License
- Cert IV in Instrumentation
- Proven post-trade experience with exposure to large scale Mining, Oil & Gas or Manufacturing operations
- Experience across milling and crushing highly desirable
- Full Class C Manual Driver’s Licence essential; HR Licence, Forklift ticket an advantage
- LVR and CPR Training
- High Voltage Switching Operators Ticket
- Previous experience using SAP will be highly regarded
Please note: This is a permanent full-time role at our Telfer mine site, FIFO from Perth on 8 Days On/ 6 Off/ 7 Nights On/ 7 Off roster.
