Who we’re looking for

We are currently seeking a safety-conscious and diligent Electrical Technician to join our Electrical department at Telfer and provide electrical services to all production areas within the Underground Fixed Plant Maintenance Department.

Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, key responsibilities include the provision of technical support in all aspects of electrical maintenance, statutory compliance, maintaining the winder system, surface and underground fixed plant maintenance, maintain PLC control systems and maintaining and switching of the high voltage underground network.

Key deliverables include, but not limited to:

  • Hands-on involvement in all aspects of electrical maintenance and installation
  • Monitor and report on status of electrical plant and equipment
  • Report all observed safety incidents and hazards and recommend improvements
  • Maintain good working relationships with superiors, peers, subordinates and all internal as well as external clients
  • Demonstrate proactive approach to problem solving and continuous organisational change
  • Collaborate both vertically and horizontally at all levels in the organisation to ensure common alignment, teamwork and engagement of your team and its key stakeholders
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement

As a hands-on and results-driven Electrician, you will have the natural ability to multitask and problem-solve. Through your commitment to workplace health and safety, you will ensure that all electrical work complies to the safety and environmental statutory requirements and company policies and procedures. Previous experience in winder & fixed plant maintenance, underground HV network maintenance will be an advantage.

In addition to the above skills, you will also ideally have:

  • Proven post-trade experience with exposure to large scale Mining, Oil & Gas, Energy or Utilities sector
  • Experience in high voltage maintenance, reading drawings & completing switching programs
  • WA Electrical Worker’s Licence and High Voltage Switching Ticket 
  • Full Class C Manual Driver’s Licence essential
  • SAP experience
  • Instrumentation experience will be advantageous

Please note: This is a permanent full-time role at our Telfer mine site, FIFO from Perth on an 8 days on /6 off roster (dayshifts only) with an on-call component as required.
