Work location: Perth – Redcliffe WA

Roster: Monday – Friday

In support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Green Fleet projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining fleet

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for embedded control systems software development and testing for Green Fleet projects
  • Work in a multidisciplinary engineering project teams to contribute successful delivery of Green Fleet projects
  • Develop software requirements, specifications and control interface documentation
  • Develop control systems software in a model-based design environment with MathWorks MATLAB/Simulink software
  • Develop test code at the component and system level for MIL, SIL and HIL scenarios to validate software functions and features
  • Support and implement quality engineering processes (System-/D-FMEA, Functional Safety etc.)
  • Troubleshoot software issues at test benches, test and field vehicles
  • Manage software versioning and release

Experience and qualifications required

  • Bachelor of Software, Computer Science, Electronics or Mechatronics Engineering
  • 5+ years’ experience in embedded software and/or control systems development
  • Experience with model-based software development such as MathWorks MATLAB/Simulink is highly advantageous
  • Experience with product development in the Rail industry is highly advantageous
  • Experience with electric vehicle powertrain control is highly advantageous
  • Experience with project management and software version control tools (i.e. Atlassian Jira, Confluence, GitHub)
  • Experience in automotive CAN communication and network management protocols (CAN J1939, CANOpen etc.)
  • Experience with automotive software analysis and calibration tools (i.e. Vector CANoe, CANape, etc)
  • Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and in multi-discipline teams
  • Strong, effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn fast and adapt to an environment with dynamic process and program requirements
