About the Role
Reporting to the Emergency Management Supervisor, this role is vital in ensuring that all emergency response activities are performed in a safe, timely and efficient way. And provide Supervision coverage for the emergency response team.
Enthusiasm and commitment to all aspects of medical care and emergency response readiness is critical. You will work as part of a dynamic team, bringing an empathetic and adaptable approach to the immediate and long-term health and safety of others, whilst driving and demonstrating the types of behaviour that set positive examples within BHP and surrounding communities.
This role is designed to work with the Emergency Services Supervisor to provide supervision leave coverage and continue to be an Emergency Services Officer inbuilding a resourceful and engaging team.
This role will require you to:
- Support the supervisor to lead and set the direction for the Emergency Services professionals including Nurses, HEMS Paramedics, and a growing contingent of volunteer Field Response Team (FRT);
- Assume the role of On-Scene Incident Commander during emergency events when covering S26.
- Lead teams in operational discipline regarding clinical treatment guidelines, drug management, routine inspection and maintenance of critical emergency response equipment.
- Continue to build your capability with leading teams in the delivery of excellence and continuous improvement in Emergency Management.
Ongoing development of skills and qualifications is expected in maintaining competencies and scope of practice, as well as regular group participation in and planning for training sessions. Compliance with BHP guidelines and protocols is essential and therefore supported by active engagement with colleagues, mentors, training resources and our Clinical Governance team.
This is a permanent position and can be residential or fly in fly out (FIFO) on an 8:6 day and night shift roster. We support flexible work at BHP.
About You
This role will suit a highly capable Emergency Services Professional looking for career progression with leadership experience, motivated to collaborate with site and HSE teams to ensure that everyone goes home safely.
You must have:
- Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue
- Certificate IV in Health Care
- Minimum of C class driver’s license
- HR Driver’s license (or currently working through obtaining the license)
- Complete the required DMIRS Statutory Supervisor training S26 (obtain within the first 12 months of employment.
You may have:
- Experience leading teams in a Supervisory capacity / Step up capacity
- Back ground in emergency Service roles (Paramedic, Nursing, State fire services, Policing, Defence force)
- DMIRS Statutory Supervisor training S26 or obtain within the first 12 months of employment.
