Olympic Dam is one of the world's most significant deposits of copper, gold, and uranium. Located 560 kilometres north of Adelaide, South Australia, Olympic Dam is a part of our Minerals Australia operation. It's made up of underground and surface operations and operates a fully integrated processing facility from ore to metal.
About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join the OD Emergency Services team that operates across both Olympic Dam’s Processing and Underground operations. The site is recognised as a Major Hazard Facility and the OD Emergency Service Team are well equipped to handle any scenario from Fire, Rescue, Hazmat and Medical with an extensive range of specialised response vehicles and equipment.
Reporting to the Supervisor Emergency Services, this role is vital in ensuring that all emergency response activities are performed in a safe, timely and efficient way. Enthusiasm and commitment to all aspects of emergency response and medical care readiness is critical.
In this role you will be required to:
- Respond to mine site emergencies.
- Maintain operational emergency response equipment.
- Conduct drug and alcohol testing.
- Assist the site HSE team to execute a variety of health and safety related projects.
- Provide the highest possible standard of pre-hospital emergency care, adhering to treatment procedures, accurately completing documentation, and applying the correct operational procedure in response to the situation presented to them.
- Plan and deliver training sessions, knowledge sharing and scenario-based activities for volunteer emergency response team members.
- Commit to ongoing development of skills and qualifications to maintain competencies and clinical scope of practice.
About You
This role will suit a highly capable team player who is motivated to collaborate with site and HSE teams to ensure that everyone goes home safe every day. Above all, your positive attitude and willingness to learn is integral to the success of the team.
To be successful for this role you will have or be able to demonstrate progress towards:
- Certificate lll in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue (or equivalent Cert 3 in Public Safety).
- Certificate IV Healthcare (Ambulance).
- Certificate in Drug and Alcohol Testing.
- Valid driver’s license (HR preferred).
- Ability to obtain National Police Clearance.
- Ability to obtain Working With Children Check.
Applicants with any of the following are strongly encouraged to apply:
- AHPRA Registration (Paramedic or Nurse)
- Previous experience in a similar ESO role.
- Previous experience in a State Emergency Service (Ambulance or Fire/Rescue)
Location and Roster
We have a pipeline of permanent opportunities based in Roxby Downs and can be supported as residential, drive-in drive-out (DIDO) or fly-in fly-out (FIFO) on a 7:7 day and night roster.
