BHP SA Copper is an exciting and growing precinct that has been made possible by the acquisition of formerly owned OZ Minerals assets combined with BHP’s own Olympic Dam. About the Role We are currently seeking experienced professionals to join the BHP Emergency Services teams across our Olympic Dam, Prominent Hill and Carrapateena operations on a 7:7 or 7:7:8:6 roster (location dependent).
Our growing Emergency Service workforce consists of teams of dedicated professionals that are well equipped to handle any scenario from Fire, Rescue, Hazmat and Medical with an extensive range of specialised response vehicles and equipment. This is a highly sought after role that will respond to a variety of scenarios across our underground mining, surface processing plants, villages, and airports. Reporting to the Supervisor Emergency Services, this role is vital in ensuring that all emergency response activities are performed in a safe, timely and efficient way. Enthusiasm and commitment to all aspects of emergency response and medical care readiness is critical. In this role you will be required to:
- Respond to emergencies and safely coordinate an effective response to achieve best possible outcome.
- Provide the highest possible standard of pre-hospital emergency care, adhering to treatment. procedures, accurately completing documentation, and applying the correct operational procedure in response to the situation presented to them.
- Plan and deliver training sessions for the Emergency Service Volunteer team members, incorporating a variety of training techniques including delivering presentations, physical demonstrations and conducting scenario-based activities.
- Commit to ongoing development of skills and qualifications to maintain competencies and clinical scope of practice.
- Maintain operational emergency response equipment and records.
- Assist the site HSE team to execute a variety of health and safety related projects.
- Conduct drug and alcohol testing.
About You This role will suit a highly capable team player who is motivated to collaborate with site and HSE teams to ensure that everyone goes home safe every day. Above all, your positive attitude and willingness to learn is integral to the success of the team.
To be successful for this role you will have or be able to demonstrate progress towards:
- Certificate lll in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue (or equivalent Cert 3 in Public Safety).
- Certificate IV Healthcare.
- Certificate in Drug and Alcohol Testing.
- Valid driver’s license (HR preferred).
- Ability to obtain National Police Clearance.
- Ability to obtain Working With Children Check.
Training to meet these minimum qualifications may be provided for suitable candidates. Applicants with any of the following are strongly encouraged to apply:
- Experience in a similar ESO role.
- Experience in a State Emergency Service – Ambulance or Fire/Rescue.
- Current AHPRA Registration.
