Deflector Operation consists of two high-grade, narrow vein Gold/Copper mines, located 160km east of Geraldton. The ore is contained in a series of structurally complex lodes of Deflector and South West deposits. Accelerated near mine exploration program coupled first production from South West deposit making it busy and exciting future for the Deflector team.

THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the OHS & Compliance Manager, the focus of the role of ESO/Medic is to ensure site Emergency preparedness and awareness, as well as to provide medical treatment for injury and illness. You will also provide OHS support to managers in conducting incident investigations, inspections and compliance where required. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide up to date training programmes for in line with requirements for Cert III in Mines Rescue
  • Recruit, motivate and engage new and existing members of the Deflector Emergency Response Team
  • Provide an efficient and confidential medical service to site-based personnel
  • Participate and coordinate Incident investigations, work place inspections and audits
  • Coordination of Injury management and return to work programmes
  • Coordinate, inspect & maintain all rescue and emergency equipment, First Aid clinics, first aid equipment, ambulances and medical stock to ensure compliance with manufacturer, regulatory & company standards
  • Conduct Fitness for Work testing programmes
  • Monitor, review, audit and improve the Deflector emergency event and capability risk profile and compliance
  • Maintain the site Emergency Response Plan and related Procedures
  • Maintain currency with industry best practice in safety and emergency response
  • Assist in facilitating the review and development of an approved Emergency Management Training Improvement Plan
  • Deliver general site emergency response training programs, Emergency & Crisis Management Team training and exercises to site Teams

ABOUT YOU

As a key part of this lean and dynamic team, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of and put your stamp onto Emergency procedures. You work well in a team environment and can effectively communicate and influence a wide range of people. 

You can also demonstrate you have:

  • At least 4 years’ Underground experience and in a similar role
  • Certificate IV of Training and Assessing
  • Certificate IV Health Care (Ambulance)
  • Minimum Cert III Mine Emergency Response, including closed circuit BA
  • Current WA "C" Class driver’s licence
  • Chem-Alert Administrator would be an advantage
  • ICAM or Tap-Root Investigation Training would be preferred
  • A High level of computer literacy skills

This role is offered on an 15:13 roster FIFO from Perth or DIDO from Geraldton. A salary package in line with experience will be discussed during the recruitment process.
