Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a permanent position on a 4:3 roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns. Domestic relocation assistance to Darwin or Cairns from anywhere in Australia is provided.

As the Emergency Services & Security Superintendent, you will ensure the Emergency Services team is prepared and effective in their ability to provide emergency response capability to the operation and community which includes Fire, Emergency Medical and Technical Rescue.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Champion a culture consistent with delivering our safety guarantee for all employees and contractors.
• Drive security strategy implementation and performance and continuously improve security standards, policies and procedures.
• Ensure ESOs play a key role in the injury management triage process, proactively enhancing health and safety outcomes for the operation.
• Provide technical expertise to Operations sub-functions to support safe execution of emergency management and response work.

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Extensive experience in Emergency Management and Response and/or Military Service, Private Security capacity.
• A passion for inspiring and leading a high-performing team to success.
• A commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
• Ability to build networks and relationships with key stakeholders across site.

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Diploma or Degree qualification in Emergency Management and/or Security Risk Management.
