ABOUT GEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This role is a permanent position on a 7:7 day/night roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.

As the Emergency Services Supervisor, you will play a pivotal part of the Emergency Services team, providing essential services across the operation and into the community in emergency response, operational security, and community safety. You will ensure your crew of ESO’s are prepared and effective in their ability to also provide injury management triage and proactive support in driving improved health and safety outcomes for the operation

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

• Effective command and control during emergencies
• Provide technical expertise to operations and functions to support safe execution of emergency management and response work
• Ensure the site is well equipped to address emergency response and security matters from an equipment and resourcing perspective
• Work with the GEMCO appointed private security firm to ensure effective security response

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

• Previous experience working in a similar role within Mining or Heavy industry highly regarded
• Australian Driver’s Licence (Manual, HR Open)

Qualifications for this position are:

• Advanced Diploma in Public Safety – Emergency Management or similar
• Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
• Mine Site Safety Supervisor (S1, S2, S3) training course
