Operations near and far
Located in the Great Sandy Desert in East Pilbara, Western Australia, Telfer is a fly in out fly out operation from Perth which recognizes the importance of work-life balance. Our comfortable, well furnished rooms include Foxtel, and our site offers quality food with healthy options, medical care, sports and recreation activities. Families are welcomed several times a year to open days to support our community feel at Telfer.
Who we’re looking for:
Reporting into the Emergency Services Supervisor, a permanent opportunity has arisen for an Emergency Services Treating Officer to provide emergency response & in-field medical treatment services and help lead the Emergency Response Team at Telfer.
The EST Officer, is there to provide assistance in any emergency at the Telfer Operations and is managed in an efficient and effective manner whilst reducing the risk of injuries or harm to personnel, the environment and company assets.
A few key responsibilities will include:
- Respond to, control, and lead the ER team through any emergency incidents that may occur on site.
- Maintain all emergency response equipment to high standard of readiness and keep up to date records. Ensure all equipment and consumable stocks are maintained in service.
- Ensure all volunteer ERT members are adequately trained and certified in the appropriate courses.
- Conduct effective weekly training days for volunteer ERT members and monitor individual skill levels.
- Ensure the ERT numbers are maintained above an acceptable level in line with the sites Emergency Management Plan.
- Co-ordinate and conduct regular evacuation exercises.
- Provide initial prehospital medical care in line with qualifications and site requirements during an activated emergency.
- Provide assistance to support security services around site and village including traffic management, asset protection, dispute resolutions, patrols, reports and investigations.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and skilled individual who is able to work well under pressure and contribute to the success of the team. To be successful in the role you will possess several skills such as:
Ideally, you will also have the following:
- National Accreditation of the following;
- Under Ground Search and Rescue
- Hazmat
- Vertical Rescue
- Road Crash Rescue
- Confined Space Rescue
- Urban Fire Operations
- Ability to communicate effectively to various work groups.
- Demonstrated experience in an emergency services related industry.
- Demonstrated experience at an underground operation.
- HR-B driver’s license (unrestricted preferred)
Desirable Skills:
- RII30719 - Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue
- HLTPAT005 Collect Specimens For Drugs Of Abuse Testing
- HLT41120 Cert IV Health Care
- TAE40122 Cert IV Trainer and Assessor
- CPP20218 Cert II Security
- Previous experience in the mining sector
Please note: This is a full-time permanent role at our Telfer mine site, FIFO from Perth on 8 days on 6 days off, 7 nights on, 7 days off continuous roster.
