Role Purpose
This experienced communications role is responsible for developing and maintaining strategic and trusted partnerships with site based team members as part of the WAIO Employee Engagement Project. The role is responsible for developing and distributing quality content on site and delivering effective communications strategies that promote WAIO’s workforce, culture and role as an employer of choice. The role will be fly-in fly-out from Perth, with an expectation that the specialist will spend 50 per cent of their time on site.
About the Role
Content and Channels
- Develop and deliver day-to-day employee and stakeholder communications with a strong editorial focus.
- Clearly articulate and align all communications to the BHP communications narrative and strategy.
- Identify, create and develop key communications collateral at BHP-controlled sites and villages.
- Develop compelling content on key Employee Engagement initiatives.
- Have a strong understanding of various channel strategies and work with other members of the team to maximise content distribution.
Stakeholder Management
- Effective and experienced business partner for key internal stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships and provide high value guidance and coaching.
- Provide strategic communications advice and develop effective strategies to achieve key business needs.
Crisis Communications and Issues Management
- Effectively identify emerging risks or issues with the potential to impact BHP’s reputation and understand escalation process.
- Capability to deliver effective and comprehensive issues and stakeholder management plans.
External and Digital Communications
- Partner with BHP’s digital team to execute the strategy for website, social media, and intranet content.
- Create innovative, effective content in collaboration with other members of External Affairs.
- Drive the creation of video and photographic content aligned with global communications objectives, effectively utilising tools, and equipment.
Collaboration
- Effectively work across the Global Corporate Affairs and Communications team, and actively collaborate with colleagues in Corporate Affairs and Corporate Communications to deliver measurable results.
About You
- Tertiary qualification in relevant field.
- ~5 years’ relevant experience in communications.
- Excellent written skills across all channels.
- Strong understanding of digital tools and platforms, both internal and external,
- Capability with video production and photography.
- Effective business partnering skills and experience.
- Strong project/time management skills.
- Ability to collaborate and build strong networks across the company.
- Issues and stakeholder management experience at all levels.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and quality-control.
- Ability to operate without supervision.
- Proactive and calm under pressure.
- Respectful and respected role model of BHP’s values.
