Employee Relations Advisor

Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk Noongar people.

Roster: Monday – Friday (with site travel as required)

Fortescue is seeking an experienced Employee Relations professional to join the Perth Fortescue People team. The ideal candidate will have considerable ER experience including in particular conducting workplace investigations and providing advice regarding complex case management and other ER matters. The candidate will have a desire to work as part of a collaborative and high-functioning team and a commitment to delivering quality ER and IR advice to the business.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Conduct professional investigations into workplace grievances or concerns, including in relation to serious and complex matters.
  • Manage ongoing ER matters and provide support to the human resources team in relation to case management.
  • Play a key role in implementing Fortescue’s employee relations strategies together with other members of the Employee Relations team.
  • Provide expert advice to the leadership and human resources teams regarding employee relations issues, legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Prepare, review and amend policies and procedures concerning employee relations matters.
  • Ensuring the business at all times acts in accordance with Fortescue’s values and culture.  

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Comprehensive practical experience in ER and IR, preferably in mining or heavy industry
  • Ability to work independently at a high level
  • Demonstrated strength in working as part of a team and building strong relationship
  • Sound ability to provide advice to all levels of the organisation
  • Coaching and building capability of leadership and other Fortescue People functions
  • Strong focus on customer service and delivery
