Electrician Experienced - Energy Operations

Work Location: Chichester Hub - Fortescue’s Chichester hub is located on the traditional lands of the Palyku and Nyiyaparli peoples.

Roster: 8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth

At Fortescue we are in the process of transforming our energy assets to achieve our climate change targets of zero emissions by 2030. The Energy Operations assets are expanding as such so is the team, this is an exciting time to join. You will be a key member of the Chichester’s Power Stations and have exposure to a diverse range of engineering matters ensuring the sustainability of our operations.

The FMG Chichester Power Stations provide power to the Christmas Creek and Cloudbreak mine sites, utilising Cummins and MTU diesel engines respectively. Recently connected to the 220kV Powerline from Alinta’s Newman Power Station and tied in to a 60MW Solar Farm, which has the capability to support the total load across both sites during daytime operations.

Key accountabilities will include:

• Responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operational performance and maintenance of this important asset
• Maintain our overhead distribution networks to ensure customer supply
• Work with the power station supervisors and planners to ensure all maintenance activities are resourced appropriately and executed in accordance with the maintenance strategy
• Carry out planned and routine maintenance activities on a broad range of electrical and instrumentation equipment
• Operate the diesel generators and their associated balance of plant from the onsite control room
• Diagnosing and fault finding on all equipment in the power station.

 Qualifications and skills required:

• Electrical license
• Certification III in ESI - Distribution Overhead or equivalent on the job experience maintaining network equipment 
• High Voltage Switching certificate and relevant experience
• Experience in Diesel Generation Cummins, Penske and MTU.
• Experience in AVK alternators and ComAp exposure.
• Experience with all aspects of power station and or processing plant maintenance and fault finding i.e., instrumentation, PLC, Control system operation 
• Transformer and HV switchboard maintenance experience
