We currently have a vacancy for a Mechanical Engineer to work with our Asset Management department within the Surface Engineering team. This team works over four major processing facilities; the Copper Concentrator, the Lead Zinc Concentrator, the Lead Smelter and the Copper Smelter.

The Role
This role is a full time permanent position based residentially in Mount Isa on a 5/2 | 4/3 lifestyle roster. We offer a competitive salary, 13% superannuation, and other monetary benefits but the real value comes from the development and experiences you gain from this role. The newly formed Queensland Metals Surface Engineering team covers an extensive asset portfolio including two concentrators and two smelters.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Optimising reliability, eliminating losses, maximising utilisation and asset life in a safe and cost effective manner,
  • Supporting implementation of the Glencore Asset Management Framework,
  • Identification of critical risk areas and supporting Capital Expenditure Budget planning process,
  • Review, develop and align maintenance strategies,
  • Providing technical support to operating and maintenance departments,
  • Mentoring of graduate engineers within the Asset Management team,
  • Work with production, maintenance and other stakeholders to identify and develop engineering solutions to reduce repetitive failures and issues that adversely affect plant operations.

You will have the following skillset and attributes:
  • A tertiary qualification - Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in an operating process plant environment
  • Demonstrated competency with Microsoft Programs Suites
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills
  • Previous experience in reliability role/s with particular focus on downtime reporting and data analysis, root cause analysis and systems to report and track actions to prevent recurrence of failures will be highly regarded,
