Data Engineer - Analytics 

Work Location: Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Roster: Monday to Friday 

Role overview:

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Data Analytics Engineer to join our Autonomy Operations team. Reporting to the Principal Technology Adoption, this role is responsible for data analysis and decision support systems.

Key responsibilities include: (max 6 bullet points)

  • Business Case generation.  Build a solid metrics-based proposal for each project.  Then provide before/after scenarios based on the business data.
  • Develop fit-for-purpose models that update in real time and connect to our existing MSSQL and Snowflake datasets.
  • Publish models in visualisation tools, like Tableau.
  • Run stakeholder engagement and process improvement workshops to gather requirements, opportunities or to deploy recent process changes.
  • Work alongside Business Analysts to map the impact of changes to Functional Requirements of the solutions being developed
  • Work alongside Project Engineers to get the best measures of performance for the Autonomy Projects being delivered
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders including processing, mining, integrated planning and mine control

Education and Experience: (max 6 bullet points)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Field, IT or Computer Science
  • 5+ years experience in data analysis (SQL, Snowflake)
  • Practical experience in gathering user requirements and taking them to finished products
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of data visualization tools like Tableau
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of Python and R programming is a plus
  • 5+ years experience in Mining Industry.  Knowledge in open pit mining, preferably in iron ore
