Mount Isa Mines is looking for an Electrical Engineer for a position within the Engineering Projects team working across the Copper Concentrator and Lead Zinc Concentrator.

The Role
This position is based in Mount Isa based and is responsible for the project management of electrical capital project activities from design through to construction. This position will report to the Lead Electrical Engineer in a tight high performing team.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for design, project management and supervision of challenging brownfield projects relating to high voltage, low voltage and control systems (including Yokogawa distributed control systems) in accordance with Glencore MIM safety standards;
  • Regular and accurate project reporting on scope, schedule and budget;
  • Define scope of works working alongside stakeholders and resource planning as required for successful completion of projects
  • Provide technical support to asset management, operations and maintenance teams;
  • Mentoring of graduate electrical engineers;
  • Forward planning and development of pre-emptive strategies to ensure minimal downtime, unplanned shutdowns and maximise plant availability for project work;
  • Work with project supervisor for on site execution and manage consulting engineers, electricians, mechanical trades as required by project works;
  • Provide regular and accurate project reporting and financial tracking within a well-defined system;
  • Possesses strong understanding of relevant Australian Standards, Acts and Regulations; and
  • Ensure compliance with site and statutory standards.

The successful applicants will have:
  • An Electrical Engineering degree with demonstrated project experience; 
  • Established technical knowledge in electrical engineering in diverse fields and possess an eye for detail;
  • Be flexible to work on multi-discipline projects that require you to be an excellent team player with well-developed communications skills;
  • Be a logical thinker, a strong customer focus and have a can-do attitude and solve complex issues in a fast paced environment;
  • Have a firm and proactive attitude for safety of self and other work personnel;
  • A sound understanding of work place OH&S;
  • Hold a manual drivers licence (or the ability to obtain a manual driver licence within 3 months of commencement);
  • Experience in SAP and Microsoft Project is valuable; and
  • Working towards RPEQ status.
