We are currently looking for an Electrical & Control Systems Engineer to join a dynamic group of technical experts within Rio Tinto Iron Ore (RTIO).
Reporting to the Senior Engineer AMES Yandi, you will:
- Reducing HSEQ risk, improve plant performance and reduce business costs by providing support to projects as a subject matter expert
- Work on Electrical and Control Systems at our bulk ore handling minesite, including HV and LV distribution and Motor Control, electrical protection, variable speed drives, production networks and server infrastructure, PLC, HMI etc
- Develop and update operational, maintenance procedures and recovery plans to minimise business interruption due to equipment failure
- Provide escalated technical support for the breakdown recovery, testing, commissioning & maintenance
- Develop and maintain electrical and control systems asset registers and implement Asset Life Cycle plans
- Ensure compliance to RTIO standards and industry best practice, and sustainability of changes through first party assurance and governance of site electrical and control systems engineering processes
What you’ll bring
You will have tertiary qualifications in Electrical or Control Systems Engineering and be familiar with key electrical Australian standards. Additionally, you will have experience in the interpretation and development of technical documents (such as engineering drawings, scope of works, functional specifications, procedures and commissioning plans) and be competent in equipment failure investigations and root cause analysis processes.
A ‘C’ class driver’s license will be required and your team focus and ‘can-do’ approach will also ensure your success in this role. Experience in electrical protection, variable speed drives, PLC and SCADA configuration, HV switchgear and functional safety, whilst not mandatory, will be well regarded.
