About the role
We are currently seeking an Electrical and Control Systems Engineer to join the Dampier Ports Electrical and Control System Engineering team. An experienced, stable and knowledgeable team of subject matter experts working in a stimulating and technical advanced environment.
This is a great opportunity for a strong technical engineer with great communication skills to provide control system development and support activities to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations and optimise plant performance.
Reporting to the Superintendent Electrical and Control System Engineer you will be responsible for:
- Provision of control system and electrical engineering support to site maintenance, operations and capital projects teams.
- Escalated technical support for breakdown recovery.
- Provide technical assurance at project stage gates and detailed designs for projects.
- Ensuring electrical regulatory and standards compliance for upgrade works and new installations
- Engagement in the Defect Elimination process – defect identification, investigation, and DE project execution.
- Implementation of transferable learning and continuous improvement of asset reliability.
- Identification, management, and elimination of risks.
- Identification and development of scopes for newly proposed projects.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Electrical, Control System Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Previous site experience within a mining or port environment in a control system support role.
- Operational experience and proficiency with Schneider PLC and Wonderware SCADA systems.
- Experience in HV and LV distribution system, Variable speed drives and rotor starter methods.
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
- The ability to work collaboratively across a diverse range of stakeholders and operational teams.
- Practical understanding in the use of SAP.
- Experience with Digsilent Power Factory Power Modelling software would be beneficial.
- Strong working knowledge of RTIO standards and Australian Standards.
- An understanding of Iron Ore fixed plant processing equipment such as conveyors, screens, crushers and balance machines.
- The ability to think critically, collaborate and build trust with a wide range of stakeholders across the business to solve complex problems.
- A current and valid manual ‘C Class’ driver's licence
