About the Role
BHP is in search of a Geotechnical Engineer who can play an active role as part of the Resource Engineering team.
You will report to the Superintendent of Geotechnical Operations; you will offer geotechnical engineering recommendations, enabling safe execution of mine plans.
The critical tasks for the role include:
- Day-to-day pit inspections and recommendations
- Slope performance reviews
- Geotechnical design recommendations
- Geotechnical hazard management through critical control verifications and monthly audits
- Focus on delivering value, clear decision-making skills, technical excellence and strong collaboration skills
About You
You will be a self-sufficient engineer who is willing to learn and can take on new processes.
In addition to this you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering and/or Geoscience, or a related discipline
- Previous mining experience
- Been in a similar role with 12 months experience
- Previous exposure to rock mass characterisation through empirical analysis, modelling, geotechnical instrumentation, and monitoring methods (preferably but not essential)
- Capability with Mining CAD packages (Vulcan) and engineering software
