Engineer - Mechanical

Macmahon is accepting applications for the role of Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This role has the option of being based at Brisbane Office or Lycullin Workshop and would involve regular site visits. 

Reporting to the Maintenance Area Manager, the Mechanical Engineer is focused on reliability engineering and responsible for a range of condition monitoring programs and preventative maintenance projects for Macmahon’s fleet of heavy mobile maintenance equipment, as well as identifying engineering solutions to address equipment failures and process inefficacy.

The role focus

• Maintain a register of improvements implemented and their value to the business
• Manage the SOS program in accordance with the Macmahon Fluid Condition Monitoring Procedure 
• Manage Macmahon’s Warranty process on site in accordance with procedures
• Manage the site CTS, Bucket, and Tray Wear monitoring program
• Ensure defect elimination Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and actions are completed in a timely manner and with a high level of quality
• Evaluate mobile equipment performance and the effectiveness of the processes and procedures designed to support their performance
• Review current practices and procedures and identify areas for improving costs, efficiencies and productivity
• Identify and develop, or where required, escalate to the OEM to provide engineering solutions to address repetitive failures, high downtime, labour or cost failures, and other problems that adversely affect mobile plant performance

The ideal candidate

• Demonstrated Reliability Engineer experience in a mining maintenance environment
• Strong technical understanding of maintenance processes 
• Strong technical understanding of preventive maintenance techniques
• Strong knowledge of heavy mobile equipment condition monitoring and analysis
• High level of analytical ability
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Trade Qualification
• Knowledge of Maintenance KPIs and reporting
• Desirable certifications – Condition Monitoring, post grad Diploma in Reliability
