An exciting opportunity currently exists for a Mechatronics Engineer to join our Process Engineering Technical Services – Quality, Labs and Sampling team based in Perth. In this role you will be responsible for providing engineering support for robotic and automated equipment dedicated to the sampling and analysis of iron ore.

This unique role is a great opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic mechatronics or robotics engineer to develop technical knowledge across a business-critical asset class and be a subject matter expert supporting the laboratories at our mines and ports.

Reporting to the Senior Engineer – Mechatronics, you will:

  • Provide engineering support for the development, implementation and commissioning of new assets, methods and strategies for the sampling and analysis of iron ore
  • Provide design review and technical assurance expertise to studies, sustaining capital and technology and innovation project teams
  • Develop equipment performance metrics and reports to identify and prioritise asset reliability and performance issues
  • Assist with the development of maintenance strategies and tactics for sampling, measurement and other laboratory assets, and support their deployment across sites

What you’ll bring

  • Relevant tertiary Engineering qualifications – Mechatronics/Robotics, or Mechanical/Electrical with cross-discipline experience
  • Experience with fixed plant control systems, i.e. Schneider PLCs and CITECT / Wonderware HMIs
  • Automation and large industrial robotics experience desirable
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail
  • Current ‘C’ Class drivers’ licence

Where you’ll be working

Perth-based at either the Operations Centre (OC) or Central Park offices, with ad hoc site travel
