About the Role
Working within the Planning and Technical Team and reporting to the Superintendent Mine Design, you will be an integral member of an empowered, high-performing team, providing mine design excellence for the Olympic Dam mine.
This challenging role offers a diverse range of exposure across the planning cycle. You will be responsible for optimising (depending on experience) the extraction of ore through concept stope and development designs, and the delivery of safe, executable plans for 20-40Mt mining blocks within this world-class, complex orebody. This position is based in our Adelaide office (Roxby Downs is an option) on a Monday to Friday roster with regular site visits required. Flexible work is embedded in the team. Responsibilities Include:
- Communicate and collaborate with other Planning and Execution teams, in the formulation of all mine development and stope planning activities.
- Plan/Design to extract the value from the orebody by working with the other Planning, and Execution teams.
- Monitor and maintain progress for all design work, using the relevant team tools.
- Deliver Stope Notes for allocated mine areas.
- Deliver horizontal and vertical development designs.
- Work with execution and technical teams on integrated improvement projects.
- Contribute to the maintenance and verification of mine design and execution processes.
About You
If you are passionate about delivering industry best practice technical work in service of the front line customer, the role of Mine Design Engineer could be your next step. To be successful in the role you will have:
- Degree Qualified in Mining Engineering (or equivalent).
- Broad understanding of the mining and operating challenges.
- Ability to quickly and constructively work within the Olympic Dam operations team, with an ability to work productively and co-operatively.
- Underground mine experience, preferably with experience in Sub-level Open Stoping methods.
- Computer literacy with the latest mining software packages, and highly competent level of Excel.
- Ability to think laterally and visualise in 3D.
- Commercial acumen and demonstrated ability to understand business drivers.
- Understanding of project management principles, such as theory of constraints.
- A strong appreciation for the voice of your customer and pursuing operating perfection.
- Professional association affiliation.
