Reporting to the Open Pit Planning Superintendent, the Open Pit Mining Engineer will assist with the optimisations of and planning for Open Pit projects, and assist with study work associated with open pit mining opportunities. The role will also provide assistance for operations, review sites integrated mine plans and schedules.

The role involves diverse tasks within a small and highly capable team. The role will work closely with other sections of the Planning and Technical Team, ie. Geomechanical, exploration, resource modelling, mineral processing, approvals and site based engineers. This role will provide exposure to a wide variety of mining methods, throughout the entire mining process from inception to approvals and closure.  As a member of the Planning and Technical Team at the Nickel West level you will have ample scope to demonstrate your commitment to delivering results and working in a collaborative manner, to add value to the overall business.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering preferred
  • Significant knowledge of Open pit mining methods and practices
  • Mine planning experience and report and presentation skills essential
  • Mine Design and Scheduling software (Preferably Deswik)
