About the role

We are looking for an Engineer to join our Mine Water Management Team at Marandoo to assist in optimising and planning dewatering tasks and supporting our operational team.

This is a permanent position based at Marandoo, reporting to the Superintendent Mine Water Management. You will be:

  • Planning the dewatering tasks required to support the mine plan and present the priorities to the Dewatering Supervisors and crews, providing context and scope for the execution works.
  • Supporting the operational execution teams as required.
  • Liaising with MTS and Mining teams to ensure dewatering plans are adequately integrated into the 2-week planning cycle.
  • Liaising with WRE Hydrogeologists to understand the dewatering targets and implement plans to enable these to be achieved.
  • Assisting in the design of sumping locations, bore pads and pipeline access tracks.
  • Understanding and monitoring the water distribution network to ensure water is being used as effectively as possible and maintain flow monitoring compliance.

What you’ll bring

  • Practical dewatering experience in the mining sector.
  • Strong technical knowledge of dewatering equipment (submersible and centrifugal pumps), applications and techniques.
  • Ability to problem solve and adapt quickly to changing circumstances to ensure the strategic plan is met.
  • Experience in project management and execution.
  • Experience in, and knowledge of pipeline hydraulics (pipe capacities, pressure ratings, head calculations, friction losses).
  • Experience working within an active open cut mine with an understanding of the Technical Services and Mine Planning function.

Where you will be working

The Marandoo mine is located at the foot of Mount Bruce adjacent to the Karijini National Park, 50 km east of the town of Tom Price. Marandoo is known for its picturesque hills and mountain ranges. Our operation currently employs a fly in fly out workforce.
