Engineer - Mining

Macmahon has an exciting opportunity for a Planning Engineer to join our team at Tropicana. Reporting to the Integrated Planning Superintendent, your role's primary focus is to provide to provide open cut mining engineering support to the project.

The Tropicana Gold Mine is located 330 kilometres northeast of Kalgoorlie on the edge of Western Australia’s Great Victoria Desert. Macmahon’s scope of work includes mine planning, drill and blast, load and haul, crusher feed and other associated works. The Tropicana Gold Project is part of the joint venture between AngloGold Ashanti Australia Pty Ltd (70%) and Regis Resources (30%).

The role focus:

• Execute the Tropicana budget schedule
• Provide recommendations for cash flow, value and risk management
• Construct and deliver integrated short term schedules that cascade from the 3MS and annual budget and include production, drill and blast and ancillary tasks
• Review and validate short to medium term considerations for annual budget development
• Report compliance to plans, keep manager informed of variances, identify and mitigate risks 
• Implement and deliver compliance with site HSSE&C policies, management systems and processes within the mine
• Build organizational capability (people and structure) within the Integrated Planning team to deliver the Tropicana budget and LOM plan 
• Develop Integrated Planning systems and processes to provide effective planning, efficient and safe work practices, performance monitoring and continuous improvement

The ideal candidate:

• Previous experience in a similar role
• Tertiary degree - Mining Engineer or equivalent
• Demonstrated understanding of drill and blast designs and techniques
• Short to medium term planning skills
• Ability to understand and create maps/plans
• Familiarity with current mine planning software
• Great interpersonal and communication skills
• Commitment to Macmahon safety culture and values; and
• Current C Class Drivers Licence
