About the Role
This role is a Permanent full time position on a 9-day fortnight at our Boddington Bauxite Mine, which is located a short drive from the community of Boddington (10 minutes), Pinjarra (50 minutes) and the City of Mandurah (1 hour).
Please note that accommodation is not provided on site, you will be required to drive in, drive out to site on a daily basis. Employees ideally live within an hour’s drive of Boddington.
Provide expertise, coordination and management in the development of all short and medium term mine plan designs. The mine design process must take into account all HSEC requirements to ensure safe, cost effective and continuous production that meets all quality consideration.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Ensuring compliance with all legislative and license to operate requirements including legal and contractual obligations as they apply to internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical expertise to deliver feasible design inputs to schedulers that account for HSEC, volume and cost requirements of the operation. Including the design of development activities, optimised design of mining pits, drill & blast, and rehabilitation and clearing plans.
- Ensuring designs are optimised to deliver the most effective production capability of the equipment in accordance with Manufacturers Operating Standards and site safety requirements.
- Develop and deliver the weekly schedule for the mine operation that extracts maximum value from the resources whilst incorporating production, development and rehabilitation activities that supports refinery production targets as well as input from other internal and external stakeholders to enable precision execution.
- Support Operational Teams to reduce costs through compliance reporting and identification of opportunities in mine design to improve performance.
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Proven ability to solve problems and deal with ambiguity.
- Ability to build strong relationships and networks with stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven capability to operate in a complex environment, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in an equivalent role in surface mining operations.
- Proven capability with mine design and scheduling software (e.g. Maptek Vulcan, RPM MinePlanner, and ESRI ArcGIS Pro).
- Experience in strategic planning and optimisation is valued.
- A focus on safety and a passion for continuous improvement.
Qualifications for this position are:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering (or similar engineering discipline).
