Engineer - Mining

Macmahon has an exciting opportunity for a Mining Engineer to join our team at Boston Shaker. Reporting to the Project Manager, your role's primary focus is to provide engineering support to the project.

Macmahon’s 5 year project at Boston Shaker includes underground mining services, site establishment, portal development, decline and sub-level development and stoping. The project is located 330 kilometres northeast of Kalgoorlie and utilises the Tropicana Gold Mine camp. Tropicana Gold Mine and Boston Shaker are joint ventures between AngloGold Ashanti (70%) and  Regis Resources (30%). 

The role focus:

• Conduct all aspects of engineering work required by the project
• Provide technical and commercial support as required
• Timely reporting of accurate site performance statistics
• Provide technical engineering support and analysis to site management and personnel
• Identify and actively participate in business improvement initiatives
• Assist site personnel with management of mining physicals and checks as required
• Review and liaise with site personnel on client schedules, equipment allocation and expected costs and revenue
• Achieve a high level of competency and maintenance of the production reporting system and associated site support
• Support in progress claim audits and forecast preparation for the project
• Support end of month cost reconciliation and stock reconciliation processes and provide background on monthly performance to assist with improvement projects
• Perform other duties as required and directed by your manager or site management
• Take ownership of the explosives supply, reconciliation and ordering process ensuring there is sufficient explosives on site
• Prepare and own the weekly and monthly scheduling and planning process, this includes facilitating meetings and processes for the accurate benchmarking and review of performance against target

 The ideal candidate:

• Previous experience in a similar role
• Tertiary degree - Mining Engineer or equivalent
• Previous exposure to either hard rock surface or underground mining projects 
• Short to medium term planning skills
• Familiarity with current mine planning software
• Great interpersonal and communication skills
• Commitment to Macmahon safety culture and values
• Current C Class Drivers Licence
