Engineer - Mining

Macmahon has an exciting opportunity for a Mining Engineer to join the engineering team at Gwalia. Reporting to the Project Manager, this role provides mining engineering support to Gwalia Gold Mine where Macmahon is contracted to provide services for St Barbara. 

With over 55 years of experience, Macmahon is a mining contractor with a unique capability of offering its clients surface, underground and mining support services.

The Gwalia mine is one of Australia’s oldest underground gold mines. The scope involves whole of mine services including mine development, ground support, production drilling and blasting, loading and trucking, shotcreting and paste fill reticulation.

The role

• Conduct all aspects of engineering work including: mine planning, design, scheduling, drill & blast support and equipment selection as required in a timely manner
• Provide technical and commercial support as required for the site including but not limited to: - Timely reporting of accurate site performance statistics
• Provide technical engineering support and analysis to site management and personnel 
• Identify and actively participate in business improvement initiatives 
• Assist site personnel with management of survey data and checks as required 
• Review and liaise with site personnel on client schedules, equipment allocation and expected costs and revenue 
• Achieve a high level of competency and maintenance of the production reporting system and associated site support 
• Support in progress claim audits and forecast preparation for the project
• Perform other duties as required and directed by your manager or site management 

The ideal candidate

• Degree in Mining or Engineering or equivalent
• Previous experience in a similar role
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills 
• Current C Class Drivers Licence
