Macmahon is inviting applications from Mining Engineers to join our team at Tropicana working on a large scale alliance style contract. The barriers of the typical client / contractor relationship do not exist. A data driven efficiency approach enables the engineering team to operate similarly to an owner operator mining style. CAT Minestar and Terrain HPGPS system
Autonomous and line-of-sight drilling capabilities

The Tropicana Gold Mine is located 330 kilometres northeast of Kalgoorlie on the edge of Western Australia’s Great Victoria Desert. Macmahon’s scope of work includes mine planning, drill and blast, load and haul, crusher feed. Production at Tropicana stands at a whopping 93.5 milion tonnes ore per annum. The fleet consists of;

3 x 600t dig units
2 x 400t dig units
24 x CAT 793F / Liebherr T264 electric drive trucks
9 x platform drills capable of single pass 12m benches with 229mm diameter hole
5 x Sandvik Di650i Down-Hole-Hammer drills 
 

The role

• All aspects of engineering work including: mine planning, design, scheduling, drill & blast support and equipment selection 
• Technical and commercial support for the site 
• Timely reporting of accurate site performance statistics
• Technical engineering support and analysis to site management and personnel 
• Identify and actively participate in business improvement initiatives 
• Assist site personnel with management of survey data and checks 
• Review and liaise with site personnel on client schedules, equipment allocation and expected costs and revenue
• Achieve a high level of competency and maintenance of the production reporting system and associated site support 
• Support in progress claim audits and forecast preparation for the project 
• Perform other duties as required and directed by your manager or site management

The ideal candidate

• Engineering degree or equivalent
• 3yrs+ post-graduation experience 
• Manual Drivers Licence
• Proficient with Vulcan software (desired, not mandatory)
• Currently holds or plans to obtain QM Certificate
