Engineer - Mining

Macmahon has an exciting opportunity for a Mining Engineer to join the team at King of the Hills mine located in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia 28km north of Leonora. Macmahon have secured a 5-year Surface and Underground mining contract with RED 5 ltd, the mine will produce up to 200kozpa. King of the Hills is Australia’s next major Gold Mine and features leading edge technology, new plant, brand-new camp facilities. This role offers an 8/6 family friendly roster and quick travel to and from Perth.

This role would suit a Mining Engineer who enjoys some autonomy in their role and having a significant input into the planning and scheduling activities influencing production and operations. 

The role

• All aspects of open pit engineering support including: mine planning, design, scheduling, drill & blast support and equipment selection
• Assist with data integrity, production monitoring and compliance through utilisation of technology and FMS tools
• Responsible for the development of daily and weekly mine plans
• Engage and liaise with the production team to achieve plan compliance 
• Develop drill & blast designs 
• Assist with progress claim preparation and budget & forecast development
• A strong focus and commitment to safety; and
• Provide project management leadership and/or act as the mining lead on studies and projects
• Liaise with contractors, vendors and other stakeholders on a technical level and present reports, publications and presentations in a professional manner
• Contribute to Mining Engineering and Estimating Community of Best Practice
• Great interpersonal and communication skills
   

Qualifications and attributes 

• Previous experience in a similar role
• A tertiary degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or Surveying
• Mine Planning Software literacy with experience preferably in Vulcan/Deswik/Spry
• Previous experience working for a mining contractor, highly regarded 
• Hard rock open pit mining experience, highly regarded
• Minimum C class (manual) driving licence
• Great interpersonal and communication skills
