About the Role

BHP Iron Ore is one of the world’s leading suppliers of iron ore. The Company’s operations currently involve an integrated system of five inland mines, an extensive rail network and two separate port facilities. We are seeking talented Mining Professionals to join our inclusive and high performing Resource Engineering team in Perth.

This is an exciting opportunity to diversify your career skills, interacting directly with stakeholders across the many customers which we support, including Business Planning, Decision Evaluation, Finance, Geoscience, Approvals teams, Production Scheduling, Technology and Resource Engineering.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Lead the hub 5YP and LoA engineers through the CAP process,
  • Act as Point of Contact for external teams,
  • Consolidate & review input parameters,
  • Frame scenarios to answer strategic questions and analyse results,
  • Clearly communicate learnings and results tailored to various stakeholders,
  • Assess impacts of changes and uncertainty in mine plans and escalate when required, and
  • Capture improvement ideas and feed into continuous improvement pipeline

About You

We have a strong focus on finding individuals with the right values, leadership capability, and communication skills. Your interpersonal skills will foster strong working relationships across our internal customers. In addition to demonstrated ability to consolidate and analyse information, you will have the skills and knowledge to provide critical thinking and a solution-focused attitude. The ability to communicate effectively across disciplines and organisational levels to create buy-in and influence outcomes will be highly regarded.

To be successful in this role you will be an experienced mining professional with good stakeholder engagement skills and a desire to deliver meaningful and impactful work. You are team oriented and result focused with a demonstrated track record of working with others to achieve right outcomes. In addition, we are ideally looking for the following skills and experience:

Required:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering, other related disciplines such as Engineering and Geoscience, and/or significant mine site experience.

Desirable:

  • Resource industry and site based experience
  • Experience with use of Mine Planning software or other Engineering tools
  • Strong data analytics
