About the Role
Within this position you will be responsible for the management and support of the engineering function for developing, evaluating and auditing the engineering blueprints (i.e., Standards, Specifications, Risk Assessments etc.) to ensure compliance with AS Standards. The engineering blueprints are associated with Auxiliary Equipment and relate to Mobile Classified Plant such as mobile cranes, MEWPs, Road Going Vehicles/trailers, Road Rail Vehicles etc.
Duties
- Create and distribute product safety and engineering alerts to the WAIO stakeholders
- Direct supervision of contracted auditors, inspectors, consultants and buddy mentoring of the intern/graduate engineers.
- Manage and control the engineering changes associated with the Auxiliary Equipment
- Participate in routine team and stakeholder engagement meetings
- Provide technical support to operations on auxiliary equipment particularly in regards to technical documents.
- Participate in monthly site visits as part of site engagement and perform field leadership to improve safety
- Participate in vendor technical capability review
- Assess and investigate cost saving opportunities Control and keep track of all expenditure under Engineers control.

About You
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or appropriate WA Trade Qualifications (ideally both)
- Valid Australian C class driver’s license.
Skills:
- Professional technical writing
- Effective collaboration and team development

- Computer literacy
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to adapt new business systems (i.e., 1SAP, ProjectWise etc).
Experience:
- Relevant experience in the mining industry or other heavy industry
- Working knowledge of Australian Standards for Classified Plant, Australian Design Rules (ADR)/Vehicle Safety Bulletin (VSB) Standards and Rail Safety Standards & relevant codes of practice
- Experience in a large-scale open pit mining operation or industrial materials handling operations is well regarded
