Queensland Metals has a great opportunity available for someone motivated by challenges and risk management in the role of Risk Engineer. Reporting to the Superintendent Safety, Hygiene and Risk, you will provide expert Risk & Assurance assistance across the Smelting and Processing Surface Operations. This role is residentially based in Mount Isa and works a 5/2, 4/3 roster (9 day fortnight), promoting a healthy work-life balance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Coordination and oversite of risk and change management activities, and regulatory compliance management.
- Developing risk analyses of processing and smelting activities.
- Facilitation and review of departmental risk registers
- Support business in applying process safety principals in risk and control activities, including reviewing, developing and implementation of critical control performance standards and verification activities
- Provide specialist advice and effectively support, mentor and facilitate risk and assurance activities to the operational teams for Processing, Smelting and HSEC on risk identification and control management.
- Coordination of the Major Hazard Facility (MHF), including the development of MFH reports for the regulator as per the Queensland Mining & Quarrying Safety and Health Act and Regulations and tracking of audit actions.
- Participating in collaborative and positive team culture in line with Glencore Values
- Developing and improving proactive customer relationships and demonstrating an understanding of the key drivers of operational stakeholders
- Support continuous improvement of Risk and Change Management systems and processes
You will have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is desirable
- Experience developing bowties/risk registers and critical control management processes (ICMM methodology highly regarded).
- Three years experience in workplace health and safety and/or risk management (mining industry experience highly regarded).
- Experience in ISO 31000 Risk Management application.
- Highly developed report writing skills coupled with practical experience in delivery of technical reports and recommendations
- Robust understanding of Risk Management
- Strong interpersonal, communication and persuasion skills including the ability to deal with operational stakeholders from a wide range of backgrounds and practice areas
- Demonstrated experience in facilitation, mentoring and stakeholder engagement
- Working knowledge of relevant legislative requirements
- Major Hazard Facility exposure (Highly Regarded)
- Demonstrated ability to provide innovative and practical solutions to meet business challenges.
