About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Production Coal Processing team at BMA’s Saraji Mine Site.
Reporting to the Superintendent Processing, the Engineer Processing role delivers value for the business by evaluating and improving Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP) efficiency through recovery, quality, rate, and cost. The role encompasses direct management and input into a multitude of continuous improvement projects across both CHPPs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Achieve safety, environmental, and cost objectives.
- Monitor and optimise plant circuits and equipment to achieve best possible metallurgical performance.
- Be involved in daily operation of the plant by providing technical support to operations team.
- Establish key routines and systems to enable continuous stable operation.
- Focus on reducing costs through maximising recovery, minimising down time and eliminating waste.
- Identify improvement opportunities and implement them through continuous improvement process.
- Provide support and input into CAPEX projects.
- Work with other process engineers both onsite and with the IROC (Integrated Remote Operations Centre).
About You
You will have a tertiary qualification in either Chemical/Processing Engineering or Metallurgy and be able demonstrate your processing experience to assist in diagnosing and addressing inefficiencies.
You may also possess the following:
- Proven commitment to safety;
- Previous experience within a processing plant;
- Understanding of coal quality and lab operation would be advantageous, but not essential;
- Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to provide innovative solutions;
- Demonstrate ability influence and build strong relationships with stakeholders to enable and effectively support department KPIs;
- Demonstrate extensive experience in process management and Management of Change (MOC);
- Familiarity with production systems such as 1SAP, Fiori, AMPLA, PI Systems, SCADA PLC would be advantageous, but not essential.
Location
The Saraji open cut mine is a coal mine located near Dysart in the Central Queensland region of Australia. The mine is located 200 kilometres south west of Mackay and 60 kilometres south east of the mining town of Moranbah. The Saraji Coal Mine has coal reserves amounting to 648 million tonnes of coking coal, one of the largest coal reserves in Asia and the world. Coal produced at the Saraji mine is exported to overseas steel makers in India, the Americas, Europe, East Asia and South Asia.
