Perth based full time role with ad hoc site travel.
Responsible for the Engineering management of complex projects across all phases – from Studies and Execution through to Close-out
Provide Technical leadership to a portfolio of projects
Coach Project Engineers on the fundamentals of discipline engineering
About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Project Engineer to join the Sustaining Capital Engineering Management Team.
Sustaining Capital delivers a diverse portfolio of projects for Rio Tinto Iron Ore to maintain the supply chain capacity. The projects undertaken by Sustaining Capital include construction of haul roads, workshops, camps, fixed plant assets, rail and marine infrastructure. A key project for the role is an airport terminal upgrade.
Reporting to the Principal Project Engineering, you will:
Prepare engineering scopes of work to support the Study Lead
Manage engineering compliance to relevant standards including RTIO, Australian Standards and CASA
Demonstrated expertise in engineering for NPI/facilities projects
Lead design reviews and critically review engineering deliverables, including the management of technical stakeholders and end user requirements
Manage cost and schedule compliance of engineering activities within the project.
Coordinate Technical Queries with consultants (providing technical and site experience/input) and/or engineering subject matter experts
Supporting the Study Lead, review progress payment claims, provide monthly progress reports to internal stakeholders, review of construction methodology and management of engineering risks.
Demonstrate safety leadership in the field, engaging in Critical Risk Management ensuring the highest HSEQ standards are being met at all times.
Collaborate with project support functions (including procurement, cost analysis, estimators, planners, shutdown schedulers, travel, accommodation, and mobilisation teams).
Support broader portfolio of projects, depending on demand and priority
Coach Project Engineers on the fundamentals of discipline engineering
Drive value engineering to achieve cost effective designs
About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline and at least 5 years' experience in Project Engineering
Demonstrated experience in design or project engineering of NPI assets.
The ability to work collaboratively across a diverse range of stakeholders and operational teams, with effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Specialist level knowledge of related civil standards.
A demonstrated commitment to safety
A current and valid manual ‘C Class’ driver's license

Where you will be working
This position is based in Perth at our Central Park office with irregular commute to Pilbara based Operations.
