About the Role

Reporting to the BMA Saraji Mine (SRM) Engineering Modifications & Operations Projects (M&OPs) Portfolio Lead, this role will see you deliver projects that meet the approved objectives within the constraints of scope, time, quality, and budget to maximise value.  Project-related health, safety, environment, and community risks will be identified and managed. 

This role is based on-site at Saraji Mine on a 5/2 roster, offering flexible travel arrangements including DIDO / FIFO (FIFO is from Brisbane).  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Follow the BHP Small Projects Management Framework (SPMF) for development and delivery of small projects (i.e. <$20M USD)
  • Project Initiation / Opportunity Framing – establish business opportunities or business requirements for investment
  • Project Identification – Identify, develop and compare investment alternatives, including ‘optimised without’ alternative and identify the preferred investment alternative
  • Project Selection / Definition – select, detail and refine the preferred investment alternative to be ready for execution
  • Project Execution and Close – execute and deliver approved projects, transferring ownership to the end-user(s)
  • Capable of developing and managing multiple projects, stakeholders and schedules to manage the time, cost and resource allocation for projects
  • Manage routines that monitor and identify project team performance, schedule, risk and cost deviations – adapting the plan to continually maximise the value add of the project
  • Collaborating with appropriate stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle to ensure appropriate action
  • Continually seek to improve project services and practices
  • Contribute to Department General Duties such as Field Leadership, Hazard Reporting, participation in periodic team meetings, etc
  • Support peers with document and design reviews to assist with department project delivery
  • Manage application of Project Management processes to support compliance with site requirements an BHP “Our Requirements” Group Level Documents
  • Drive continuous improvement through the BHP Operating System (BOS) 

About You

  • Experience in managing varying projects sizes, ranging from small projects (<$100k AUD) to large projects (>$10M AUD)
  • Industry experience in mining, construction, oil & gas, utilities or manufacturing is preferred.  QLD Coal Mining experience will be an advantage. 
  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, or similar discipline is preferred, though not essential for the right candidate. 
  • Experience in project delivery, collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders with distributed teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others and gains understanding
  • Demonstrated scope management and change control skills
