We are looking for an experienced Engineer Reliability - Mechanical to provide professional reliability engineering function and technical expertise in including defect elimination, smart tactics, depth of technical diagnostic abilities with a strong insight to tribology and condition monitoring. This is not a routine role, but one that will introduce a significant level of business value and technology

As a Engineer Reliability - Mechanical and working in a collaborative community within the Maintenance and Operations departments, you will:

  • Targeted failure analysis and defect elimination driven by data analysis and multi-discipline engagement.
  • Participate in development and optimisation of maintenance strategies, taking asset performance to new levels, improving life cycle cost and reliability.
  • Maintenance budgeting, strategic risk management and forecasts with clarity on shut drivers.
  • Develop and participate in Continuous Improvement Projects and monitor execution as required.
  • Partner with condition monitoring, electrical & mechanical engineering, maintenance, and lubrication team to enhance early detection for predictive maintenance and extend equipment life.
  • Adjust/develop designs, standards, specifications and work procedures as required.

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and colleagues, including key elements within reliability engineering methods that promote safe work and risk mitigation.
  • Tertiary qualification in mechanical engineering
  • Advanced computer literacy (Integrated Information Systems, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Projects, SAP).
  • Strong collaboration skills from trades to leadership
  • >10 years’ experience in reliability engineering on mining fixed plant, with proven track record
  • Proven working knowledge and training in Root Cause Analysis – Apollo or similar
  • Mining process plant maintenance and equipment diagnostics
  • Training and experience in RCM/FMECA
  • Principles of lubrication analysis interpretation and contamination controls
  • Bearing technical knowledge in selection, fitment and defect interpretation
  • Beneficial - Condition monitoring exposure or training in vibration analysis and or thermography

Where you’ll be working

Our Weipa operations in Far North Queensland includes three bauxite mines, processing facilities, shiploaders, an export wharf, two ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals.

Amrun, our newest mine, was completed in 2018 and will extend our Weipa bauxite operations by decades, significantly building on our 55-year history on the Western Cape, and providing jobs and supporting business growth in the region. The mine is located a short commute from Weipa on traditional land. We work closely with the Traditional Owners to implement our agreements, ensuring that the benefits generated from mining support future generations and that important cultural heritage sites are identified and preserved.
