ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a Permanent role on a 9-day fortnight roster. Our Worsley Refinery is a short drive from communities such as Collie (20 Minutes) & Bunbury (45 Minutes) which all offer an enviable country lifestyle. Surrounded by magnificent jarrah forests, pristine beaches and world-famous wineries, you will live and work in one of the most beautiful regions of Western Australia and still be home each night. 

Candidates should ideally live within an hour’s drive of Collie as there is no accommodation on site.

As the Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for providing reliability engineering expertise to optimise maintenance strategies, improve asset performance and support safe, efficient operations across the refinery.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Develop, optimise, and continuously improve preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies to maximise asset performance, reliability, and lifecycle value.
  • Monitor asset health, analyse equipment performance, and conduct failure investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to reduce unplanned downtime and prevent recurring issues.
  • Review maintenance and work management effectiveness, ensuring processes, SAP data, and compliance requirements support reliable operational outcomes.
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement, implement equipment upgrades, manage change, and support broader asset management initiatives.

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

  • Applying reliability, maintenance, and asset management principles within processing, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Strong mechanical engineering and asset reliability expertise across fixed plant equipment, including pumps, conveyors, pressure vessels, piping, tanks, heat exchangers, and rotating equipment.
  • Proven ability to analyse equipment performance, investigate failures, and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify failure mechanisms and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Skilled in developing and optimising preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies to improve asset reliability, minimise risk, and maximise operational performance.
  • Effective communicator with a collaborative approach, building strong relationships across operations, maintenance, engineering, contractors, and other key stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
  • Results-driven professional with strong problem-solving, continuous improvement, safety, and risk management focus, capable of managing competing priorities and delivering quality outcomes in dynamic environments.

Qualifications for this position are:

  • Undergraduate qualification in mechanical engineering.

Desirable

  • AICIP/API Pressure Vessel Inspector, API 653 Tank Inspector.
