About the role
We are looking for an Engineer Reliability – Signals & Systems to be part of the RTIO Rail Network Asset Assurance Team at Dampier. You will improve asset reliability and cost through reliability analysis and the delivery of reliability improvement projects on signal infrastructure assets across 1700km of RTIO rail network.
This role is a great opportunity for an expert in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Maintenance Tactics for Rail Signals & Systems Infrastructure to join our diverse and technical team of experts. Reporting to the Specialist Reliability Engineer, you will be:
- Responsible for the Signals & Systems Defect Elimination process - Identify defects, conducts high-level Root Cause Analysis (RCA) & manage the critical Defect Elimination (DE) projects portfolio for Signal, Systems and Communications assets.
- Improve site Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time To Recovery (MTTR) by using rail system reliability modelling and the RCA process.
- Conduct reliability analysis and modelling to interpret failures or unscheduled loss/cost data and make valuable recommendations to improve tactics and asset management strategies. This requires investigating faults and analysing data recorded in SAP, Mine to Ship (M2S), HOSDI and Train Control System (TCS).
- Work closely with RNM Asset Assurance Signals Team, Area Superintendents and Rail Engineering to obtain the necessary support to implement and drive a defect elimination culture at all levels.
- Support the Rio Tinto Rail Signal, Systems and Communications execution teams with asset management, change management, and work management skills.
About you
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- Bachelor of Engineering – Electrical/ Electronics
- Understanding of rail safe operating procedures.
- Relevant engineering experience in heavy haul railway environment, working with railway Signals, Systems and Communication Standards, maintenance and renewal strategies, reliability and asset management practices.
- Strong facilitation, stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- RCA and problem-solving techniques.
- Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and maintenance strategy development skills.
- Failure-Mode-Effect-Criticality-Analysis (FMECA) facilitation skills.
- Understanding of project management principles, Whole Of Life (WOL) asset management and business case development.
- Understanding of Asset Management (AM) systems and structures.
- Understanding of data analytics tools such as Power BI, Excel, SAP and APM.
- C Class Driving Licence
